A Heartfelt Thank You From the Rosenow Family
We want to try to express our gratitude for your loving gifts that made it possible for our son to be moved from his orphanage in Kaifeng to the Siping Center back in December. However, there really aren't any words to sufficiently share all that our hearts feel. He was in such terrible shape when he arrived in Siping, and we will always believe that this move literally saved his life. He was undernourished and suffering from a serious infection due to a severe pressure sore all along one hip because of neglect and complications resulting from his spina bifida.
During his months in Siping, we watched him come alive before our very eyes via the webcam there. He fattened up, his infection began to heal, he made two very close friends (one of whom will be coming home to a family right here in our city!), and he learned about his new family fighting for him here in the States. We were able to communicate with him through a couple of volunteers who spent time at the center, and it quickly became clear that he understands we are coming for him and is very excited about his new family. There will never be a way for us to thank the Siping staff for their part in this healing of his body and his heart.
He has, sadly, had to return to his orphanage now so that the paperwork in his province can be completed before our arrival in China to bring him home. But your gifts that made it possible for him to live at the center all these months have given him the health, the strength, and the necessary emotional stability to survive this last hurdle now before he comes home. We will leave Ohio in three days, hold him in our arms for the first time in five days - on July 18 - and bring him home to his many, and very excited, brothers and sisters on July 31. Then we will all celebrate his seventh birthday together on August 26. What a celebration that will be! We can barely sleep as we watch the hours and days slowly tick away.
Thank you with all our hearts for your part in our son's story. His new name will be Owen Samuel, and we are attaching a very recent picture of him so you can see for yourselves how healthy and happy he looks after being under the excellent and loving care of Hannah and her staff in Siping.
